From Boston it is actually shorter if you get the BOS-LHR-SIN to work in terms of connections!
A few problems with this:

1. Unless you do a Oneworld Award, you need 2 award tickets to do this (North America - Europe and Europe - Asia 2).

2. Europe-Asia awards do not allow any stopovers enroute, only at your destination. So, while JFK-HKG-(stopover)-SIN-(destination)-HKG-JFK is allowed, LHR-HKG-(stopover)-SIN-(destination)-HKG-LHR is not. These awards are much more restrictive (and more miles).
