united.com is not always accurate. Once you select your flights, if you really want the upgrades confirmed in advance, call UA before you book to insure that there is indeed NC space.

I recently got hit by this. United.com showed 6 seats in the upgrade bucket, so I thought it would be safe (I've seen problems before when it was only 1 seat left or something). But no, there were no seats.
I would use united.com to scope out the flights (it's
usually accurate), and confirm with an agent before booking.
