How can all of this be
"a secret" or get any of you
"into trouble!" ????
Really... It is beginning to look more and more like Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney are now running the shop at BAEC. It's worse than the KGB!!! (at least the KGB doesn't normally make your luggage go lost)
Ever heard of:
- The European Directive 95/46/EC (24.10.1995) ?
- The OECD Recommendation of the Council concerning guidelines governing the protection of privacy and transborder flows of personal data (23.09.1980) ?
- The Council of Europe Convention (108) for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data (28.I.1981) ?
Probably not. And that's just too bad. Really. I mean: WtThFk?? These systems (CIV etc.) clearly must be illegal. I cannot believe that the EP/EC/ECJ would ever condone such practices. It just beggars belief.
I really think it's frkn' scary that multinational corporations are allowed to snoop on us whilst we're sleeping (in our seat on the way to JFK), to collect "secret" information on our behavior, spending and living patterns, in order to give us a score and classify us (e.g. NSFU Not Suitable For Upgrade), as if we've just stepped off the train in Auschwitz (NSFL Not Suitable For Labor). And that there's really nothing we can do about it.
I cannot believe that customers would not be legally entitled to demand access to their (digital) files, and/or to demand more information about the systems that are in place and the data/information contained therein (and how all of this affects them personally)... I would like to think that it is only normal that we would at least be entitled to require the corporation(s) in question to have access and oversight over this data/information and - if we so request - to permanently amend and/or delete this personal data/information on these systems... instead of the kind of cowardly replies of which I have just quoted some hereabove (quoted from
www.flyertalk.com), and which I find truly disgusting and frightening. Really.
I demand an explanation. And I demand full transparency on this subject.
Sincerely,
CiaTheSolvSneaker - as of now probably NLSFU (No Longer Suitable For Upgrade).
