If EL AL spent what other airlines spend on food for premium passengers the food would be much better. Likewise the wines. Take a look at BA or Singapore and see what wines they offer in C and F. How much do they cost? A lot more than EL AL's. The (kosher) wines are available, but EL AL don't want to spend the money. Why? Because they know that most of THEIR D/F passengers just don't care. Believe me, I know a lot about this subject, specifically as it relates to EL AL, and more specifically about their SKML policy in First class. It was I who was responsible for finally persuading them to provide chareidi passengers in First takinf SKML with a proper First Class meal rather than an economy meal 'dressed up' as C.
Could be, you can put me as one of those who realy don't care about the food, I eat what I get. I care about the service and to have a comfortable product.
Service is always good, sorry not good, excellent and its consistent - in the past 4 years I have been flying ELAL, I have had one incident where there was an issue in the air - a food trolly ran into my seat...
As for product, well as the big of advantage of being a small airline in terms of service and knowing the passengers, this is the disadvantage when it comes to product, its hard for them to invest in the top of the line as the prices are sky high - I am in this business so I know...
