I agree with the others, having to be kosher is no excuse.
I actually remember the days when the food was really good on LY.
As for service making up for bad food and a very average hard product, I disagree.
It might do in Y but not in C or F.
Service on LY is generally excellent, but can still be a hit or miss depending on the crew.
Just did a round trip with BA and I can honestly say the crew on both flights were one of the friendliest nicest crews I have travelled with on any airline.
