"Small" is easy, but I am married to a Mr Brough (pronouced "Bruff"). remarkably he's usually referred to as "Brow" or "Broh". it's off how few times people ask how they should pronounce it rather than have a shot at it and get the wrong one.
Likewise, "Hocker" is easy, but I'm married to a Mr Broughton (Broh-ton). So in classic English style we have:
your husband: Brough = Bruff
my husband: Broughton = Broh-ton
strangely the Japanese NEVER got his surname wrong in 6 months living there
