So, whilst I deplore the difficulties that the OP has had, those who are planning some sort of boycott because of it are likely sorely to miss out.
I have stayed there and whilst it was very early in the life of the property when I did even allowing for this it fell some way short of fantastic. There are much better hotels on the island (even the chain hotels e.g. The Hilton springs to mind). Whilst the service kinks may have been ironed out since my visit more important factors like the relatively small rooms and complete lack of real suites (in sufficient volumes) is a problem. The "BA lounge like" interior design of the rooms is ok but I for one would prefer more usable internal space.
I have to say after the way my own negative experiences were handled and in the light of the OP's issues this and its sister property would be the very last on my list for my next trip to MRU whilst i would happily stay at the Hilton again (even after 2 previous stays). Good to see you had a positive experience though and one thing I will say for the property is that the location (if you hire a car for your visit) is pretty good.
