I think what robertlaird is saying is that if you're looking for "U" upgrade space (so you can buy a "value" fare and upgrade automatically as an MVPG or use your MVPG upgarde certs) you can use the low fare calendar to find dates when there is "A" space available and, because A generally equals U, you'll know what dates have available upgrade space (not sure if that's any clearer, but that's how I read it).
Okay, let me say this back so I can be sure I understand it.
This is based on the idea that MVPG can look for flights and the "gold U" and then buy the Value fare to confirm a FC seat. Right? (In this case, it's on the OGG trip which is hard to find U class for. But this is usually easier when you're not looking for OGG type flights.)
But it goes one step beyond because it adds another person to the PNR (using companion fare). So does this mean if you find a U class (or A class) available on a flight, and buy a Value fare (to confirm that upgrade), *and* then add your companion fare at $50... then you have 2 seats confirmed in FC?
And then similarly, what if I book 2 people in a PNR (I'm MVPG, other passenger is not) and I buy the Value fares that have U class available. I know I'll be upgraded to FC. Will the other passenger be upgraded as well (since I can upgrade a person traveling with me to FC, if the upgrade is available)?
Thanks!
