i did this late last year, it did take them ages to process the application and miles had to be chased via a letter to flying club, but got there in the end. it was also fee free for first year, so cancelled last week in time for the 10th billing cycle just to prevent the charge hitting my account a month in advance - and of course i transferred the MR out ages ago..
