Foshan is really close to Guangzhou. The Zu Miao (Ancestor's Temple) is worth visiting:


There's also the Liang's Garden as well as a whole street in Shiwan that sells porcelain potteries and figurines:


And south of Guangzhou in Panyu, there is the newly rebuilt Baomo Garden. It has an impressive collection of china there.

Macau is too far for a day trip from Guangzhou, as it's about 2.5 hours by bus to get to the border.
