Thrifty has a lot accross and down International Blvd. from the airport, just past the Doubletree Hotel. I've walked to the Doubletree (10 minutes) from Baggage claim, Thrifty would be just across the street. I don't know if a renatl would be cheaper if you just showed up there at the rental counter instead of taking the shuttle from the airport. Generally the added airport expense is for the company to have airport access, whether they're actually on the airport grounds or not, so I think any car rental company that sent a shuttle to the airport would be higher than one that is totally off airport with no shuttle, if that makes sense. That's why you might want to call Thrifty and ask about a "local rental," don't tell them you're flying in.
