So, I am getting screwed because my first night is a free night and my second night is paid?

Sigh. All I want is to be assured that my room will be non smoking, then I will concern myself with if I get a room upgrade or not.

I just received a new confirmation from the PLT concierge that shows that my room is free for the night, but no mention now of any smoking preference. Very odd.
