Fly via ORD/MAN return on AA fare = $1074.90 out 8/29 returning on (if you leave 8/31 its about $100 less) 9/6 upgrade with the copay....the taxes should be a lot less than going through LHR.

By the time you add the $$ for the copay roundtrip and double the price (2 pax), the OP would be looking at paying approximately 3500.00 in airfare if he took this option.
