United's best and worst flight kitchens, including contract?
Which, in your opinion, are among the best and worst?
I got talking with a UA flight attendant who said that it's widespread knowledge among flight crews where UA's best and worst flight kitchens are -- for good choices, preparation, and getting special orders right. He said that it was generally believed that the best ones are SFO and ORD (because it's under the watchful eye of the UA Powers That Be). I can't remember whether he said NRT or HKG is among the best.
This grew out of a discussion of my error special meal in C. I have in my profile, and had confirmed in timely fashion for this flight out of CDG, the Asian Vegetarian. (I'm not a vegetarian, but always have found the A-V interesting -- usually curry, or noodles in interesting sauce, interesting rice, naan, chapati, gulam jamun.) I received the one devoid of almost everything. Just white rice, haricots verts, a grilled tomato and plain tomato sauce or puree (all unseasoned). Cucumber and lettuce salad. They were actually fine for what they were, and I kept it -- after all the pâtés, cheeses etc. in France, it seemed the right thing to do.
