I plan on buying a netbook (most likely Asus 1000HE) in the near future. For the purposes of this thread, this is centered around Mrs. Swede (a technophobe), my kids, trans-Atlantic flights, and my unwillingness to continue to shell out money for POS portable DVD players.

I have a 250gb portable hard drive with kids movies. Basically, I need a software that will do the following...

* Mrs. Swede plugs in the portable USB drive
* Mrs. Swede starts the computer
* Mrs. Swede opens a program
* Mrs. Swede can browse the movie selection on the portable hard drive
* Mrs. Swede selects the movie
* The movie starts to play and the kids are entertained

Obviously, something freeware is best, since this functionality will only be used sporadically. The closest thing I have found is Cinema Premier. I can't really discern if I can use their browser software without loading their main software (and/or if I have to pay money to fully use it).
