my brother is probably 400lbs. he can hardly fit into an airline seat, so yes, it's definitely fair to have them pay for the second seat. because i would not like it if i was pushed up against the bulkhead.
and the BMI scale is not set in concrete. if it was, every athlete would be considered "fat", since muscle mass weighs more then fat.

Yeah, that's until a UA coach seat becomes 10" wide and with 21" pitch.

Airlines are crooks (especially US legacies), I don't trust them farther than I can throw them.
