Flying ANA has its perks: the airline offers customer services, so you can call ANA North American office to confirm seats and perhaps ask for a better seat (eg. you want to set yourself an exit area seat, and ask them to assign your wife elsewhere, so she does not bother you during the flight).
You also have better in-flight services, because you will miss these things "SERVICES" in an North American carrier.
Two downsides: (1) ANA seats are overall smaller, so call ANA ASAP to get an exit row seat, or at least an aisle, and (2) eat before boarding, because ANA meal portion is very small (designed for Japanese or the people in this region, and their meal is always small). Otherwise you will cry for empty stomach, helplessly.
No sure if NH's regular Y seat is actually "smaller" because their 767 is also 2x3x2 7-abreast configuration and the seat pitch is 32", better than some seats on AC's 763, A330 and A321.
Well, meal portion may be small but they are free. You don't have to BOB like AC's nickel and diming on its North American service. NH also does not charge you for your headset.
