I guess I was looking for some people who had a great time. Instead, I got people who said that their favorite place in Sao Paulo was the departure lounge at the airport. Well, unless I get some completely different information, it looks like somewhere else. Thanks for the information.
Why not Rio. Everything in Ipanema, including the LeBoy right across the line in the Copa (although LeBoy is known now by locals to be lame), is within easy walking distance. After 11PM, take cabs even for short distance and always be aware of everyone around you and if someone is giving you "the spooks" just quickly avoid and get away from that person.

Now the big Saturday night spot is The Week, which has the most amazing music and a rash of men that are golden to perfection and fun too! It was like Roxy back in its high days but bigger and better. However, The Week is located in a really bad part of Centro. It would be like asking Chelsea Boys to go to Bed-Stive for a club. We got lucky and this young guy that we met had a tv show on MTV Brazil. He knew this local rich celebrity (she and her friend were like Brazilian equivalents of Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie) that offered us a ride with her car and driver (the car being a bullett proof Mercedes SUV). But if you go, most cab drivers know where the club is and will deliver you right to the door.
