I have Google and searched on FT forum to find no definitive answer

so in short

Can I provide someone else's Aeroplan # for my reservation, or vice versa?

e.g. Can I buy the ticket, but provide the Aeroplan # of my brother at reservation (OR at check-in), does it work?
Goal is obviously let someone else accumulate the AE miles


I have heard someone done it, but I have also tried it at the Check-In Kiosk, it took my brother's AE # but did not credit him the miles afterwards (I was travelling with him, with my AE #, that could be why)

My guess is NO, as AE probably matches the traveller name to AE account name to the tee
