According to your theory, the Shangri-La might be 2100m from the island skyline and the Peninsula might be 2000m from the skyline, and therefore the Peninsula has a better view.

No matter that the Shangri-la's 2100m is all water and the Peninsula's 2000m is 1900m of water and 100m of the TST Cultural Center.

Still, if you are on a high enough floow at the Peninsula, the museum is only a slight eyesore that detracts only a little from the view. But to say that the Peninsula's view is better than the Shangri-la ... now that is nonsense.
There is IMO opinion an element of truth in both replies. The Kowloon Shangri La does have fantastic views from its front facing Harbour View Rooms. Whilst it's side harbour view rooms are a complete waste of time.

Similarly, the views from the Peninsula are truly fabulous from the tower but are less spectacular from the original building.

Probably, again only my opinion not a fact, overall the best view will be from a harbour view room at the Intercontinental Hong Kong
