Heh, check-in agent fooled me as to seat assignment.
I flied ADA-IST-MAD with Turkish yesterday and was a little frustrated once I boarded my flight on Istanbul. I had checked in online the previous day for seat 6C, which is as close as I can get to the front door without paying for business. In the morning, I arrived at the airport 2 hours before my ADA-IST flight, which is about 6 hours before my IST-MAD flight. I asked the agent if it is possible for her to give me an emergency seat for the IST-MAD flight as I am over 1.90m tall and she said "absolutely". Upon leaving the counter, I asked if this was an emergency exit seat and she said "Yes". Well, the seat she assigned me was 30C and I thought it was a plane with 38 rows or something. So when I boarded my flight in Istanbul, I found out that not only had I lost the seat close to the front door, she also put 6 rows behind the emergency exit, almost at the very end of the plane, just a few meters from the restrooms.
Not that I care that much as I cannot sleep during a flight anyways but it was annoying how she approved my request but screwed me of my 6C while not giving me a better seat. Oh well.
Does this happen often to you as well?
