This fee was put forward to me at check-in counter at Virgin economy desk at Gatwick airport and the agent also pointed to the ticketing counter where I should pay the 50 quid if I wanted an exit row seat. I will try to get in touch with Virgin through my brother who works for BAA at LGW to confirm these unbelievable charges!
