I know DL will zero out a flight available through the reservation system before the flight. I do not know the time frame.
I have been at a DL gate an hour before the flight. There screen shows more detail then AA does. It shows F and Y availability on the screen (with long upgrade and standby list) but on line shows zero availability. And my upgrade cleared at 30 minutes, with on line showing zero F.
At some point AA gate/airport takes control. Not sure what the AA time frame is.
I have got on an earlier DL flight and the counter said the gate has control and there were seats available but on line showed 0. I had a boading pass for a later flight so was able to get through security. Went to the gate and they issued me a new BP and I got on. It was <30 minutes before flight.
