The thrust of the complaint appears to be the irony of the situation in which the complainer, upon learning of the sad situation and wanting a flight, was able to make arrangements by phone for tickets for his girlfriend and himself, make it from work home and then to the airport with her, and finally to make it to the front of the line through the understanding of strangers, only to be frustrated at the very end by an employee following "policy."
There’s such a fine line between comedy and tragedy, isn’t there? If Seinfeld went through all this for, say, a last-minute opportunity for a free weekend in Vegas, we’d be laughing at his interactions with the CSR and his ten-minute argument with the employee who can’t complete the ticket because she’s going on her break.
