I'm very torn on this point. I have a US address, but I'm on a medium-term assignment in Nantes, France. I have no choice but to use Air France to get to Paris. For the last 3 years, I have qualified for Gold easily with "Statut-Miles" but this year, with the new earning rules, I will need to rely on my segments for 2009. I'm lucky that even my segments in France count.

Unfortunately, this means that I will probably get Gold or even Platinum status in 2009, but I will not earn very many miles!

In my situation, being in France but outside of Paris, I have no choice but to stay with FB, right?

I guess I just grin and bear it.
