April 11 - 14, and
still no heliport!
Same old single pane windows, king beds only on the Highway 281-facing west side, etc. There are now hotel books with some information in the room, and front deskers are willing to work with you
after assigning rooms while totally ignoring your requests (in booking notes) or preferences. And this property has decided to lead the way in HGI picayunish cheapness, granting only
one bottle of water to Golds and Diamonds.
OTOH, very convenient location, scrupulously cleaned, perhaps a bit more spacious than most HGIs, nice warm decor. The restaurant cook is the same - friendly, but you may have to call out a "hello" (or "Buenos días") to bring him out of the back where he may be working, as he has no scullery assistant. The waitstaff we encountered are very helpful and eager - weekends, a young woman, on weekdays a pleasant man, and they are eager to fetch your plates, ply you with coffee, etc.
