Ticketing Snafu - Advice Appreciated
I have been looking around for some WT+ flights ZRH-HKG. I found what I thought was a good price. When I go to book it, I get the flight selection screen. Everything looks fine, the ZRH-LHR and LHR-ZRH legs show the usual disclaimer that WT+ is not available, so they are booking you into ET instead. No problem. The LHR-HKG-LHR legs show up as WT+ on the flight selection screen.
I select the flights and purchase the ticket. I go into MMB to make sure all of my info is in there, and one of the WT+ legs is now showing in WT. I called BA and they pretty much give me the run around. Apparently a manager will be getting back to me to see about giving me a refund.
My question is whether anyone has had something like this happen before and what you think I should do. I'm inclined to give them 24 hours to see whether they can put me into WT+ for the price I paid or to give me a full refund (the ticket is supposedly non-refundable). Or am I better off just disputing the charge with Amex right away (I went back and did a dummy booking so I had screenprints of the switch from WT+ to WT)? The final confirmation does show the flight booking into WT, but I just didn't look that closely, since the flight selection screen clearly showed WT+.
The problem is that the trip is coming up next week, so I want to ensure I can jump on any alternative deal if necessary, but if BA would do the right thing and put me into the seat that the site indicated I was booking, this would obviously be my first choice. Any thoughts on how I might increase the chances of that happening?
