Considering that you can get a wifi router for 25$-40$ on eBay... That's probably the route I would choose. And less likeliness of tripping over the wire. [Which may be important for retired/older folks]

I've tried both; I've ended up with a 15' cable and a coupler in my bag. The travel router is a nice idea in theory, but two or three times having trouble getting it to connect was enough for me to go back to the lower technology, higher reliability solution.
