Oh Pam, you'd make the authors of your National training manual happy. You sound like you're quoting the "how to upgrade" chapter.

Anyways, I do kid. Pam is actually right. A midsize SUV is great if you have oddly shaped items that won't go in a regular trunk, but beyond that there isn't much more capacity than a mid to fullsize car. I'd go with a standard SUV if it's not too much more. The drop in mpg will hardly be noticeable and everyone will be much more comfortable.

Another idea is to book "SUV Crossover" if that's avaiable and try to spot a GMC Acadia, they have bucketloads of room and do better on fuel than most SUVs in the standard class.
