I agree...some FAs thought it was for everyone and offered it on a tray following the original two appetizer choices. Then, I was told it was being discontinued since it is hard to manage (difficult to keep warm or not watered down when served from the top of the thermos).
But, now it seems to be back and an offering for everyone generally served along with the appetizer/salad tray, but from a separate tray that the FA walks around and offers to everyone. Difficult to play tetris with on the new flatware/plates on tray style, but it works if you're creative.
My all-time favorite is the Thai Chicken soup!
