In this era of trying to squeeze out as much revenue as possible I was flying with 3 people and was able to upgrade myself and one other online.
EF showed 13 empty seats in J with J7.

I asked at the gate to upgrade the other 2 persons and was told I could not.
End result--aircraft left with 9 empty seats in J.
AA is completely impossible to figure out--on one hand they try to grab every dollar they can--but in this instance they disregard the extra sticker revenue?
