Thanks for your short report, but can answer some more questions please (I have flown this route before - with the Alitalia configuration - but am flying it again at the end of July)?

Do you know if the new 747-400 will be the usual equipment on that route (i.e. not the Alitalia plane)?

You said that some of UC was over two decks. Any idea what seats are where? We are booked into seats 8A and C on the out and return journeys: it would be nice to know where these seats are (if you have some idea).

Any opinions on differences (better/worse/noisier/quieter/service etc) between UC on the upper and lower decks. I have flown UC upper deck on a 747-200 before, but that is exclusively UC (I assume that if UC is on the upper deck of a 747-400, it has quite a number of rows of PE behind it?)?

Were the seats J2000?

Is the video system which you described video on demand?

When I flew that route (LGW-MIA) last year, I thought the service was excellent - the best UC service (or any other service) that I have had: our steward, Jack, was a real sweetie.
