We often have domestic flights after our big international flight. Therefore we have stopped purchasing duty-free due to the hassle with liquids.

However, a few years ago we noticed that the duty free shops in the arrival lounge at DEL (a frequent destinations) had better prices than departure shops at ORD/LHR/FRA etc or onboard the aircrafts. Therefore we used to buy upon landing in DEL while waiting for the bags.
