Thanks for the advice. Usually easy as as pie but I got caught in a lengthy queue here last month. As I inched forward many passengers in front were failing the passport/visa comformance check which caused a major back-up at the adjacent BA help desks as those pax were being sent over to have their passports validated. Despite swiping my own passport at the SSCI kiosk at Edinburgh before catching my feeder flight and believing I would be cleared to go, I also failed the conformance check and I had no option but to join the growing line up. I hope it was just the system behaving badly that morning but still, it was fifteen minutes of my life I'll never get back.

All seemed a bit pointless, as my passport was checked again (for the third time that day) at Gate B47.
