Yes, you're correct, the only way to get to Hamburg is through Frankfurt or Munich. We're headed north, so Hamburg would save several hours driving . . . but I am also thinking that it is a smaller, friendlier airport. If that's not the case, then flying into Frankfurt and not having to deal with yet another connection probably makes more sense.

It's been decades since I've flown into Europe. It was so simple then . . .
