I've read here about the potential availability of paid upgrades on VA. Anybody had experience? Likewise the chances getting into the Gatwick Clubhouse on an Amex Plat card?

Flying BOS-LGW in early November on a bulk ticket (no price shown) provided by Cunard to meet a cruise.

How much $? How much better? We'll likely have an extra bag - long cruise - are they any more generous with the bags in Premium Econ?
