I have a standing order with our TA to always route me thru ORD whenever possible (flying out of JAX I MUST connect in either IAD or ORD). I've had far less headaches at ORD with baggage misconnects and immigrations queues.
It does get sketchy in the winter, but its a necessary evil IMO. I hate IAD.
