Oh, all of a sudden something from way back when makes sense. A couple of years ago I dropped down to blue due to a badly timed trip. I lost my 2A seat and was moved to 5K. At the time I figured it was a system glitch and I gave my booking agent hell. She was baffled as the system had cancelled my reservation and rebooked me on the same flight, different seat and within 2 minutes. Apparantly there now was a Gold in my precious 2A. It all came together in the end since 2K opened up, but in hinesight I assume that being a blue I could be tossed around the cabin to the Golds content.
