KE and OZ always give the DPRK a wide berth. I suspect that everyone else does, too, with a few exceptions.
I fly ORD-ICN on KE regularly and the westbound route is usually a modification of the great circle route along the Alaskan coast. The modification is that they swing wide around DPRK, go over Japan, then turn back northwest to ICN. I think once we went west of the DPRK, over Russian and China, but I suspect that's the exception. If you look at the location of ICN relative to the DMZ, you'll see why I long for reunification. It'll shave a minimum of 45 minutes off the flying time.
Eastbound, the route follows the jetstream more or less due east. The flight's about 90 minutes shorter eastbound.
