VARIG Boosts Service to Argentina

Varig Brazilian Airlines, Latin America's largest airline, and the anchor for Star Alliance in South America, announced today that it has increased its flight schedules to Argentina in response to marketplace demands.

VARIG now offers 176 weekly flights from six Brazilian gateway cities to Buenos Aires and also has additional service on a daily basis from Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo to Cordoba and Rosario.

``We are the leading carrier in the Brazil/Argentina market and have increased our frequencies to reflect the popularity of the route,'' said Vicente Cervo, VARIG's Director-North America. ``By using either our hub in Sao Paulo where we have daily nonstop service from Los Angeles, New York and Miami, or Rio, immediate connections are available to Buenos Aires.'' He noted that VARIG offers seven daily nonstop flights from Sao Paulo to Buenos Aires and three daily nonstop flights from Rio de Janeiro, with an additional flight offered on Saturdays and Sundays from Rio.
