Variability and Failure of Ticketing
I certainly would not worry too much if the travel is a way off BUT you do need to check it before you travel.
I chased a missing ticket and was told that the only thing that was holding it up was the fact that the Q person who took the booking had not sent it through to be ticketed - so if I had not called it would have just lapsed and no flight.
I do hope Qantas gets on top of this because it makes it hard for my PA to finalise our itinerary and set it aside so we can get on with other things.
This is more of a problem with flights booked with Qantas but sold by others (ie CX, KA etc). Maybe they play the exchange rate game a bit and buy them at times of favourable rates.
