We have been a "double-gold" household for years, and are, to use your expression, "savvy travellers"... yet we were both under the impression that status at the time of booking, not travel, opened up the door to the elusive 1A/K.

May I ask where you found it stated otherwise? Thanks. (Just curious as we both freakin' hate 1A/K anyway and avoid it like the proverbial plague ).
