I was able to checkin in as someone else
when checking in for my flight yesterday, I ran my credit card through the kiosk and two reservations came up for two different flights to two different destinations. after some investigation online and speaking with an equally confused WN agent, we determined that the kiosk is only checking the name off the credit card and not the actual individual. my first name alone is pretty rare, and combined with my last name is even more rare
while I doubt this would happen that often to even someone with a very common name (since you must also be flying the same day from the same airport as your name twin) this raised a bit of a security question in my mind. first, that I can see someone else's data - I now know this other individuals name, FF number, and home address. Depending on how cautious a WN agent is, I could possibly get access to the account and other information or award travel there. second, that if I'd chosen to, I could have canceled his reservation and grabbed the funds for seperate travel. again, while I'm sure WN has the means to retrace my steps of how PNRs were reused, it still means the other person could miss/delay a flight.
First time this happened to me. I wonder if anyone else has had the experience or how common it may be.
