Hayman is a separate island from Hamilton Island. I haven't been to Hayman but it is supposed to be 'nice', whatever that means.

A bit garish, and frankly, not very elegant and not refined. A bit 'fur coat no knickers', if you see what I am trying to say.

It is not exactly hot there in August - about 23 degrees daily max temp is probably what you would be looking at in August, maybe a little bit warmer if you are lucky. So, I think you might like to decide for yourself based on that.
In terms of beach, where can I find the best beach?
Certainly not on the Gold Coast. By and large, beaches on the Gold Coast are pretty much rubbish, and the Gold Coast itself is rather tacky. It would be the last place I would go for if I am after a luxury beach holiday.
