Is it legal to operate a crj without an operating toliet?

I was recently on a crj700 from JAX to ORD. We were told by the gate agent before boarding that the only toilet on the crj was inoperable. We were told to make sure we "go" before boarding. I complained that I cannot normally last 2 to 3 hours without "going", since I am getting to be an old fart. The GA said if you do not want to board she said I would be treated as a no-show, and not entitled to any type of compensation. She stated that it is legal to fly without an operational toilet. Any Comments?
