Nuernberg Germany restaurant info available

I've gone to Nuernberg every February for Spielwarenmesse (Toy industry trade show) for years (since 1991). These are my favorite German restaurants in the Altstadt, and they generally have English-language menus even though I eschew them. You know that these are special for locals because they don't take plastic, ha ha. All these places will take a rez, my suggestion is to use a German last name like "Schmidt" or "Hesse (pronounced "hes-se") or "Welk" (pronounced "velk"), I dunno it's just easier for me to do this. A Dutch friend does the same.

Schlenkerla (yes, same as the famous smoked beer) - cash only
Hut'n - more of a pub, but with a great menu - cash only
Bratwurst Friedl (restaurant with good specials like venison in winter; near the City Point shopping center; next door to an Erotik 4-level shop) - cash only
AlbrechtDuererStuebe - across from the A.D. House. Fabulous restaurant. They take plastic.
Estragon - "Modern" German cuisine, close to the Germanische National Museum. I think they take plastic.

Anyway my main point of this thread is that if anyone is going to Nuernberg for Spielwarenmesse or other business (I know there's a weapon show at the same Messe Stadium), I can offer other restaurant suggestions. Plus places OUTSIDE the Altstadt.

Tschuess
Michael
