Hi, My husband and I along with our three sons (23, 20, 18) vactioned at this property in july, 2005. The property itself is very nice, rooms are good sized and clean, pool very nice, beach onsite but somewhat rocky. We're beach people but chose the pool instead. In fact, I never saw anyone other than walkers on the beach. There was a nice restaurant for breakfast, but always crowded, always a 15-30 minute wait. As with every island I've visited, service is slow by my standards, but after a couple of days slow turns to unhurried. We had dinner at the seafood restaurant on the property one night. Nice atmosphere, agonizingly unhurried, good (not great) food, and very expensive. The casino was good sized with high minimums on the table games. My husband and sons wanted to play craps together. Every night the table minimum was $25 with no players, the employees standing there looking bored. Every night we asked for a $10 minimum since no one was playing at the $25 rate. Never happened. I never saw anyone playing craps for the 5 nights we visited the casino. We also played a couple of rounds of golf. The course is BEAUTIFUL. Well worth it. Some parts are windy, but views/service were first class.

There was NOTHING to walk to back in 2005. I suggest cabs, and while they aren't cheap, some parts of the island looked a bit rough. Visited the old fort on top a hill, can't remember the name. Well worth it for the view alone.
Took a tour of the jungle, and while it was hot and strenuous, we all had a great time. Fabulous scenery, monkeys tossing have half eaten mangoes at us from the treetops...never saw the monkeys, but all of the mangoes had a bite mark.

Hope this helps
