Le Meridien in SF is only a block or two away from the Embarcadero, and it is a beautiful run first thing in the morning before the walkway along the water becomes crowded.

Westin Palo Alto is right across from Stanford's campus, which is more like a country club. A stunning campus.

There are a few Starwood properties (like the Sheraton Belgravia) that are only a couple of blocks from Hyde Park.
