Well, I finally read the fine print. It said that I had received that email because I had agreed to when I signed up at a National Rental Million Mile Sweepstakes. I recall vaguely a contest last November or so for a million Hilton points. I suppose that is the same thing.
I don't recall giving them my Yahoo email address when I signed up, but I suppose I'll remember eventually, just as soon as I find the car keys I lost about six months ago. . . .
Anyhow, mystery solved.
On US Air, the privacy TOS screen I was looking at just now indicated that they don't give out personal data unless I have checked permission on a sign-up page, which seems fair enough. (The key word on the quoted passage above is "elect," which is consistent with what I just read.) I just got back two days ago from an LAS vacation package with those people, and I really like them and don't want to criticize them.
Anyhow, thanks again.
Now if someone would just help me solve where I put the car keys. DH is certain that I must have thrown them out with the trash, but I'm sure. . . .
