Recently, I was on a DL ATL-AMS trip, and I picked up a liter bottle of Wild Turkey 101 for use in Amsterdam. No special seals or zip ties on my duty free liquor purchase in ATL.

On the first meeting with the male FA, I jokingly made a comment about keeping well stocked with coke for me to mix with my duty free Wild Turkey. He asked if I had duty free liquor, and I said yes. At that point he got pretty irritated and told me that passengers were not allowed to consume their own booze and that the flow of liquor was supposed to be controlled by Delta employees. Once again I told him I was joking, that the Wild Turkey was needed for my use in Amsterdam for 18 days. I guess he did keep a special eye on me though to make sure I didnt bypass his service of booze. This was probably the only DL FA I ever dealt with with absolutely no sense of humor, and actually looked like he hated doing his job.

Funny thing is though, I did buy a drink, and only had a $20 to pay, and I almost though I was never going to see my change, he finally gave it up after breakfast was served 7 hours later.

If you are going to do your own liquor service, I think it is best to have mini bottles, and not say anything, even jokingly to anyone about what you are doing.
